Badami Mango is Karnataka's leading mango variety and is best consumed from April to July. It has very thin skin and is popularly known as the Alphonso of Karnataka state. It is sweeter, softer and significantly yellow, not orange. To tell if a mango is ripe, focus on FEEL, not colour. To speed up ripening, place Mangoes in a paper bag at room temperature, and store for approximately 2 days or until the Mangoes are ripe. To store mangoes, whole, ripe Mangoes may be stored for up to five days in the refrigerator, or can be peeled, cubed and placed in an airtight container in the refrigerator for several days or in the freezer for up to six months.
